Doctor Biography

Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Prodhan, glaucoma and phaco surgeon, graduated (MBBS) from Rangpur medical college under Rajshahi university in 1985. He obtained post-graduate degree DO in 1995, MS in 2002, and FCPS in 2004 in Ophthalmology from the University of Dhaka and the Bangladesh College of physicians and surgeons, Dhaka. He was the assistant professor and associate professor of the glaucoma department at the national institute of ophthalmology and hospital, Dhaka for a long period of time. He completed thirty-five years govt. service in Bangladesh health services. During his govt. service he had worked at Rangpur medical college hospital, Sir Salimullah medical college and Mitford Hospital, Dhaka medical college hospital, National institute of ophthalmology and hospital, Dhaka, and Sarkari Karmachari Hospital, Dhaka. He served as the eye specialist at Arar central hospital under the ministry of health in Saudi Arabia. He has done fellowship training in low vision from the Asian eye institute, Manila, Philippines. He completed observer-ship and skill development training in glaucoma from Disha eye hospital, Kolkata, India. He did training on microsurgery, SICS, and PHACO from Islamia eye hospital and the National institute of ophthalmology and hospital, Dhaka. He has 30 publications in reputed journals. He attended many international seminars in different countries like India, Srilanka, the Philippines, China, and Australia. He also visited Malaysia and Maldives. He is a life member of BMA, OSB, BGS, and AIOS. He was the publication secretary of the Bangladesh glaucoma society for two consecutive periods. He has a keen interest in glaucoma diagnosis and management, phaco surgery, and LASER procedure. Now he is the associate professor and senior consultant at Bangladesh eye hospital Mirpur Limited, Dhaka. He is dealing with the patient in the morning from 10 am to 2 pm and in the evening from 5 pm to 9 pm.
